Review: Insanity

Review of Insanity

My Thoughts:

This book was crazy. Literally. At first I found that oddly appealing. The quirkiness and the weird writing style was captivating and intriguing. There was a certain suspenseful element that just made you desperate to see where the story was heading. It was addictive... but the effects soon wore off. The madness to the storytelling began to get increasingly frustrating. New elements to the Wonderland mystery were constantly being introduced and accepted without explanation. Alice got more and more pliable. She followed Pillar around without question. She accepted that the world was mad and Pillar was mad and she was mad and it was left to that - everything was mad, it didn't need explanation.

Now I am just sitting here confused. I struggled to follow the plot and am still left with a hundred questions. The purpose of the plot eludes me. The mystery was unsolved - kind of. I still don't understand why any of what happened actually happened or even if it really did. Was it just a hookah-infused hallucinations or the ramblings of mental patient and deranged serial killer? I really don't understand any of the Wonderland stuff at all. Worst of all, there was a cliff hanger meaning there is now a sequel that I have to read.
