Top Ten Tuesday #12

This week topic is:-
Top Ten New-To-Me Authors I Read In 2014

This is a weekly event created by The Broke and the Bookish where bloggers post a new "Top Ten" list for the particular week's topic. This week topic is in no particular order.

1. Stephanie Perkins

Obviously this was an easy pick for me. I started the Anna and the French Kiss series this year and completely adored it. Admittedly, I wasn't a huge fan of Lola and the Boy Next Door but the other two books were genius. Perkin's writing is witty, gripping and plain old fun. Her upcoming works have already been added to my wishlist. I cannot wait for them!

2. Kristin Cashore

I read the Graceling Realm trilogy this year and found all of the books to be equally amazing. I cannot even find the words to describe how much I feel in love with the world created by Kristin Cashore. I am huge fan now and have my fingers crossed she will be releasing more works in the future.

3. James Dashner

The Maze Runner has become a huge recently due to the release of its movie adaption in November. I read the book and its sequel, The Scorch Trials, earlier this year and found Dashner's style suspenseful and captivating. I have a copy of his other book The Eye of Minds to read here and plan on doing so soon, in the hopes it will be just as good!
4. Sharla Lovelace

I have read two of Lovelace's books this year. One, Don't Let Go, was fantastic. The writing blew me away. The romance was heartbreakingly beautiful. It made me want to read all of her other books. Unfortunately the other one, Just One Day, was abosutley terrible. I have hope though her newest book, Stay With Me, will be just as good as her first book though. Go check out Don't Let Go if you haven't already!

5. Rick Riordan

Yeah, I know, shocking right!? I have only read Rick Riordan's books this year so I was really, really, really late joining this bandwagon. His Kane Chronicles quickly become one of my favourite series however. I loved the characters, the mythology, the action... all of it worked perfectly together. I am still only warming up to the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. I have read the first four books but I am just not that keen.

6. Ederi Cullen

Flitterwig is one of the most underrate middle grade fantasy series I know. I haven't heard of any fellow readers giving it a go, and there are only about ten reviews for it on Goodreads. I, however, completely adored this series. It was quirky, poetic and well written. I am glad to have discovered it and am desperate to get my hands on a copy of the third book - I cannot find it anywhere!

I haven't read multiple books any other new author so far - well, none that actually enjoyed enough to want to list here so that all I am going to say today.

What new authors did you discover this year? Let me know in the comments below!

  1. I love love LOVE Stephanie Perkins!! I agree with you about Lola being the weakest of the three but I really do still think it is AMAZING! I think what makes the other books better is all the subplots and characters :D I love the involvement of anna and etienne in Isla and the Happily Ever After... Oooo that secret scene near the end was GORGEOUS! My heart is STILL aching from that one.. I recently posted an Isla review on my blog too :3 We're like-minded I think :D
I really like your blog :3 It's cute and well written (I've had a good look around) Do you have a bloglovin?? I'd love to follow you there?? :D GOOD WORK x

    1. Stephanie Perkins is pretty darn amazing! Though I really wasn't a fan of Lola to be honest. I totally agree about the subplotlines - it was perfect how each of the three stories connected. And Anna and Etienne were sooooo cute in Isla! That scene broke my heart so much too! <3 Oh, I will go check out your review then. What's you blog's name?? :)

Naww thanks so much Evie! That means a lot. Yeah, I do. Here's the link. Do you? xx

  2. Stephanie Perkins is an author who I finally got a book from and I look forward to reading it! Especially as you liked it so much as well :) I also read James Dashner maybe last year, and it was awesome seeing the movie adaption this year ;) I also have Eye of Minds but now it is just a matter of getting to it. And also, you really need to start the Percy Jackson series! I haven't read the Kane Chronicles but it is good that you love them ^^

    1. Stephanie Perkin's books are some of the best contemporary romances I have ever read. If you love cute, witty and sarcastic characters with a lot of emotions then you'll love her books. I haven't even seen the Maze Runner movie yet and I am simply dying to! Same here, I own Eye of Minds but I never get around to reading it. I have read the first four books of the PJ series but I wasn't a huge fan - the Kane Chronicles were much, much better in my opinion! :)
